Haverhill - James W. Lavigne of Haverhill passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, at the age of 57, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with lung disease. He was the beloved husband of Stacey Lavigne of 37 years.
James (Jim) was born in Lawrence, MA on July 27, 1966, the son of Patricia (Arsenault) Therrien and the late William Lavigne. He was educated in the Lawrence school system and graduated from Greater Lawrence Regional Tech in 1984 before entering the Navy.
Jim was previously employed at JSP Sheet Foam in Michigan for 6 years. Prior to that, he worked at Voltek in Lawrence for over 20 years.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially attending family gatherings and cookouts. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, enjoyed watching wrestling with his “Buddy” (his son, Todd), playing fantasy football with his son, Scott, and son in law, Brian, and watching Harry Potter movies with his daughter, Amber. Jim enjoyed hitting the casinos and searching for fried clams with his wife, Stacey. He enjoyed vacation adventures with his family and friends which included Disney, zoos, Nascar events, sightseeing, camping and sitting by a campfire with friends. Jim also enjoyed golfing with his brother, uncles and friends. He was a long standing member of the Berkeley Social Club where he participated in darts, German bowling, pool and horseshoes and even served as a Board member for several years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Stacey (Scharn) Lavigne of Haverhill, son, Scott Lavigne and his wife, Alie, of Berlin, MA, son, Todd Lavigne of Haverhill and daughter, Amber (Lavigne) Lee and her husband, Brian, of Salem, NH as well as his three grandchildren: Lillian Lavigne, Robert Lavigne and Tatum Lee. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Therrien, of Allenstown, NH, step-mother, Claire Lavigne, of Arizona, brother Richard and wife Donna Lavigne of Sandown, NH, sister Tina and husband Troy Baker of Salem, NH, sister Tara and husband Mark Todd of Maine and brother, Mark Lavigne of Arizona. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Billie Scharn, of Haverhill, sisters-in-laws, Coleen Scharn of Haverhill and Tammy and husband Tim of Haverhill in addition to many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends too many to count.
Jim is predeceased by his father, William Lavigne, step-father, Marcel Therrien, father-in-law, Robert Scharn, Sr. and brother-in-law, Robert Scharn, Jr.
Family and friends are cordially invited to call on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
