James E. Beattie, Jr.'s Obituary
James E. Beattie, Jr., 85, a resident of North Andover, MA, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Brightview Assisted Living in North Andover, MA.
Born in Lawrence, MA, James was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a 1954 graduate of Lawrence High School. After High School, James served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a Mail Carrier for 30 years retiring in 1992. James was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2104, N.A., the American Legion Post 219, the Arlington Athletic Club and was Past President of the North Andover Boosters Club. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in North Andover. James was an avid golfer who really enjoyed his weekly Friday evening V.F.W. golf outings. He was insistent on never letting anyone in his V.F.W. Golf League forget about the 2 holes in one he had in his golfing days at Andover Country Club and Far Corners. James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always supported his grandchildren’s interests and endeavors and enjoyed traveling with his wife Rosemary to Aruba and Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
The son of the late James E. Beattie, Sr., and Mary F. (Gordon) Beattie, members of James’s family include his wife of 61 years Rosemary A. (Maclean) Beattie, his son Stephen J. Beattie and his wife Cynthia Beattie of Salem, NH, his daughter Kathleen A. Amari and her husband Dr. Sam Amari of Haverhill, MA, his grandchildren: Kyle Beattie and his wife Michaela, Troy Beattie and his wife Annmarie, and Kendel Amari. James was the brother of the late Jean (Beattie) Harrison.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, 177 Salem St., also in North Andover, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
