Ida Marie Salafia's Obituary
Ida Marie (Lombardi) Salafia, 104, a resident of the Salem Haven Nursing Home in Salem, NH for the past 7 years and formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Salem Haven Nursing Home.
Born in Abruzzi, Italy, Ida was educated in the Lawrence Schools and then went to work at the Wood Mill and Western Electric. She was a former member of the Telephone Pioneers at Western Electric. Ida was an incredible cook and cooked up until she was 90 years old. She was an avid reader and was the Bingo Queen of the Salem Haven Nursing Home. Family meant everything to Ida and she was especially proud of her 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The daughter of the late Eugene and Alvira (Avalone) Lombardi and the wife of the late Vincent M. Salafia with whom she shared 72 years of marriage, family members include her daughter Maureen E. Robichaud and her husband Joseph M. Robichaud of North Andover, MA, 2 brothers: Guido Lombardi and his wife Mona and Leonard Lombardi and his wife Rose, a daughter-in-law Maureen (Whitworth) Salafia of Plaistow, NH and a brother-in-law Thomas Salafia of Methuen, MA, grandchildren: Heidi Roy and her husband Donald Roy of Newbury, MA, Doctors Frank and Kim Rondinelli of North Andover, MA, Michelle Salafia and Nicholas DeMita of Atkinson, NH and Dr. Vincent Salafia and his wife Jillian Salafia of Sandown, NH, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother to the late Dr. Frank E. Salafia and grandmother to the late Frankie Salafia. The family would like to thank the staff of the Salem Haven Nursing Home for the kindness, support and love given to Ida over the past years that she resided there.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA. Burial will take place in the West Hampstead Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
