Helene C. (Roche) Donohue's Obituary
Helene Donohue, 94 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 19th surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Andrew J. Donohue of Lawrence, who preceded her in death. Helene, the daughter of John and Nora Cronin Roche, was born in North Andover on March 2nd, 1918. She was educated in the North Andover School System and graduated from Johnson High School. She remained a lifelong resident of North Andover. Upon graduating from high school, Helene continued her education at the Lawrence Academy of Cosmetology and completed her postgraduate training at the La Maur Beauty Knowledge Forum. She owned and operated the Raven Beauty Salon on Park Street in Andover for 23 years prior to her retirement. Helene was an avid gardener with a green thumb. Her prize-winning dahlias won ribbons at the Topsfield Fair. She enjoyed her "field trips" with her family and never missed an opportunity to attend cookouts, birthdays, showers and weddings. Helene was also a devout Catholic and a proud member of St. Michaels Church in North Andover where she attended Mass regularly. She was a strong supporter of the Catholic Broadcasting Station and enjoyed participating in the daily Mass and Rosary. She was the sister of the late Anna Lynch of Andover, Marguerite McDuffie of North Andover, James T. Roche of North Andover and John C. Roche of Bradford. She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews: Nancy Buchema of Brewster, Laurie Ann Lyons of Bradford, Cathy Roche of Bradford, Patricia Roche of North Andover, Susan Roche Olson of Strafford, New Hampshire, Maureen Roche of Lawrence, Linda Dufresne of Hampstead, New Hampshire, Karen Hines of St. Augustine, Florida, Thomas J. Lynch of Salem, James Lynch of Windham, New Hampshire, Daniel Lynch of Williamstown and James T. Roche of Lawrence. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Sunday, February 24th, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 25th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church in North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
