Helena Cassidy Miller's Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Helena Cassidy Miller on August 20, 2024.She was born Helena Louise Cassidy on June 8, 1940 to Amelia (Peccerillo) and James Cassidy of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Helena attended Saint Augustine Grammar School and was a member of the Saint Mary’s High School graduating class of 1958. She attended Burdette Junior College, graduating in 1963. In 1961, Helena met her husband of over 60 years. Andy and Helena were married on October 12, 1963. Together they spent their lives in Lawrence welcoming three boys Andrew, Michael and Brendan. In addition to raising her three sons, Helena cherished her summers at Salisbury Beach and was an exceptional chef, hosting dinners for her family every Sunday and Holidays. She accompanied her sister, an employee of Pan Am, to destinations all over the world including Russia, South America, Paris and Rome. She prided herself on her uncanny ability to find the best bargains while frequently visiting stores like the Christmas Tree Shops, Building 19 and the Kittery Outlets. Helena retired from the City of Lawrence Department of Training and Workforce Development where she helped countless people as a job developer. Helena was a true friend to everyone as evidenced by her lifelong friendships with her grammar school classmates.
Helena was a member of the Ancient Order of Lady Hibernians.
Helena is survived by her husband Andrew Miller of Lawrence, son Andrew Miller, III (AJ) and his wife Karen of Lawrence, Michael Miller of Lawrence, Brendan Miller and his wife Marcie of Brookline and granddaughters Adela Cassidy Miller and Vivienne Rose Miller; sister, Joann Cassidy and her husband Richard Goetz of Florida, and brother James Cassidy and family of Virginia. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Division 8 LAOH will be saying prayers at 5:30 during the wake.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Saint Augustine’s Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
