Helen E. Hooper's Obituary
Helen grew up in Methuen MA where she attended Tenney High School where she participated in 4 years of field hockey and majorettes. She went on to Lowell State College majoring in elementary education. Upon graduation, she taught in Lawrence MA in the basement of South Lawrance Library with 35 students in the morning and afternoon sessions. (everyone got an A++) From there, she taught in the Salem NH school system.
Helen and her husband lived for 10 years in Pelham NH where they adopted 3 wonderful children through catholic charities. (Frank, Steven and Robin). She also taught part-time at Mother Goose Kindergarten. They moved to N Andover where they went to school and had a good life with many friends and activities.
When her husband retired, they moved to Portland, OR for 2 years and then returned to their summer home in Cape Cod with winters in Venice FL. Helen had 4 serious bouts of cancer, the last of which she succumbed.
Helen enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed her family and her numerous friends. She loved being at the Cape surrounded by friends and family. She totally enjoyed playing cards and beating the boys!
Helen always had a constant smile, heart full of kindness and a positive outlook. Together with her husband, they took a 50-anniversary celebration Caribbean cruise with their entire family, including grandchildren, Will, Erin and Matt.
Near the end she had 2 goals, #1 to hold her great-grandson, Oliver, son of Erin and Roland, which she was recently able to accomplish and #2 to attend her eldest grandson Will and his finance Emma's wedding. Unfortunately, God called all too soon.
