Helen M. Batts' Obituary
Helen M. (Bernard) Batts, 73 a resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lawrence, Helen was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She went on to graduate from the Northern Essex School of Nursing. Helen had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, and then as an Occupational Health Nurse at Raytheon from where she retired. She enjoyed spending time at her beach cottage at Salisbury Beach. Helen also enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her friends.
The daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Roche) Bernard, Helen was the widow of Jack S. Batts and is survived by her three children: John S. Batts, Jr. and his wife Brenda Makarewicz of Tewksbury, MA, Michael Batts and his wife Amy of Andover, MA, and Kate E. Hill and her husband James of Westfield, N.J. She is also survived by her brother Fred Bernard and his wife Lisa and her sister Beverly Nadeau and her husband David. Helen is survived by her grandchildren: Jake, Brody, Lily, Ryan and Colin Batts as well as Isabella, Jack and Fiona Hill and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Helen’s Mass on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine’s Chapel, 128 Ames St., Lawrence, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
