Harry Clinton Cummings Jr.'s Obituary
Harry Clinton Cummings, Jr. (Clint) age 71 of Lawrence, MA died February 20th, 2025 at Lawrence General Hospital of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Clint was born in Malden, MA on August 13th, 1953 and was raised by his mother, Mabel G. Cummings and his father, Harry C. Cummings. Clint grew up in Shrewsbury, MA and attended Shrewsbury High School.
Clint entered the U.S.S. Navy on November 20th, 1980 and received an Honorable Discharge on April 28th, 1986. He served on the USS Manley, the USS King, and the W.S. Sims. During his time in the Navy, Clint served through out the Middle East region.
In Philip Pullman's, "The Book Of Dust", he shares with us how one's "daemon" is a guiding spirit. Clint's daemon was his bike (bicycle). Clint's bike was his pride and joy, his constant companion. His bike took him to the beach, Walden Pond, and many peaceful places in nature. A family friend, Billy T., remembers spending a week in the summer with Clint, when they were both young, riding their bikes around Shrewsbury. Billy remembers when they rode to the local pharmacy, which in those days had a soda fountain counter. They traveled Clint's paper route every morning on their bikes.
Clint is survived by his sister, Janice E. Cummings, and her life partner Roberta A. Hamilton who reside in Cambridge, VT. In addition, Clint is remembered by life long family friends, Carole, Stephen, and Bill Thornton.
May Clint rest in Peace.
