Grace M. (Theriault) Brown's Obituary
Grace M. (Theriault) Brown of Methuen, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Henry J. Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. She was 96. Born in Van Buren, ME on November 17, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Modeste (Cyr) Theriault. She was one of six children, all deceased. Educated in Van Buren, ME, Grace was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1933. After relocating to Boston in 1937, she met and married the love of her life, the late Edward M. Brown. They were married for 59 wonderful years. In addition to being a homemaker, beloved wife and caregiver, mother, grandmother, great, and great-great grandmother, Grace worked as a data entry specialist at the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1972. She loved to travel back home to Van Buren to visit her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, and spend summer vacations at Hampton Beach and Cape Cod. Grace enjoyed playing cribbage and canasta, and also loved to knit and crochet. She was an avid reader and loved crossword and board puzzles. Grace also enjoyed bowling, bingo, and loved to spend time with family and close friends. Grace so enjoyed the love and attention she received from the staff of Station A at the Henry J. Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her family will be forever grateful for their wonderful care and kindness. Thank you also to Compassionate Care Hospice for their support to Grace and her family. She was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Parish in Lawrence, MA. Grace is survived by her children: daughter Phyllis Grasso of Methuen, wife of the late Theodore Grasso, son Russell Brown of Haverhill, daughter-in-law Jane Brown of Methuen, son Paul Brown and his wife Lorraine of Methuen, and a daughter Priscilla Ireson and her husband Richard of Holiday, FL. Grace also leaves 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. A private burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends may call on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
