Gertrude Yvonne (Comtois) Holtham's Obituary
Gertrude Yvonne (Comtois) Holtham, age 92, of Lawrence, passed away in her sleep at her home on Friday morning September 21, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Frank J. Holtham who predeceased her in 1991. Born in Lawrence, July 4, 1920, she was the daughter of Henry and Yvonne (Duchemin) Comtois. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar school and graduated from Lawrence High school class of 1938. She was voted best dressed in her high school year book. She was a member of St. Augustine's parish and active in many of its associations Retired from the State Welfare office in Lawrence she spent many years wintering in Palm Harbor, Florida. She loved to play cards and bingo and was an avid Red Sox fan as well as an accomplished seamstress. She loved spending time with her four sons and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Her survivors include her four sons, William J. Holtham and wife Susan of Salem, NH; Bryan F. Holtham of N. Hampton, NH; Jon H. Holtham of Maynard, MA and Dean F. Holtham and his wife Eileen of S. Royalton, VT.; three grandchildren, Tara Cianfrini and husband Robert of The Woodlands, TX; Keri Willems and husband Shannon of the Woodlands, TX and William Holtham and wife Monica of Huntersville, NC; step grandchild Ellie Thornton of Haverhill and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Annette Hyatt of Methuen and predeceased by five other siblings. The family would like to thank all the care givers who looked after 'Mrs. Gertrude'. We cannot thank them enough for the love and affection they showed to her this past year. Without them, living in her own home would not have been possible. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames St., Lawrence, MA, from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M.
