George William "Slim" Kannheiser, Jr.'s Obituary
George William "Slim" Kannheiser, Jr., 72, of Lawrence, Massachusetts passed away on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 at the Holy Family Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 28th, 1944 in Lawrence, he was the son of the late George William and Geraldine (Janotka) Kannheiser. George was educated in the local schools of Lawrence and was a 1962 graduate of Lawrence High School. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from September 1962 to August 1965, and was stationed in Italy during the Vietnam Era.
George worked 29 years for the Local #42 Teamsters
and later retired in 2004 from SuperValu and enjoyed his retirement very much.
He loved riding his Harley until having to give it up because of
two back surgeries. But enjoyed driving his Mustang convertible.
He also loved to watch the Mecum Auto Auctions and going
to Mohegan Sun. George enjoyed watching the Patriots play football, especially this past season.
When their daughter was born, George worked two jobs just so
Sandra could stay home and take care of her. He was a very
hard worker to provide for his family and never complained.
He was very proud of his grandchildren. Going to see their hockey,
soccer, basketball, and softball games.
Last year he finally had a flagpole put up in the front yard
with the help of his son-law and grandson. Being a veteran
he proudly flew the Stars and Stripes along with
the POW/MIA flag.
With his quick wit, he always had a comment or joke. He never
let an opportunity go by without saying something funny.
He will be missed very much but he has left a lot of memories
for his family to remember and smile.
George and Sandra celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary
this past February.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra Lee (Anderson) Kannheiser
His loving daughter Deborah and her husband Michael Hemond of Methuen, MA
His Grandchildren: Amanda and Jake Hemond of Methuen, MA.
Sister-in-law Joan and her husband Ray Wilson of Lawrence, MA.
