Franklin P. York's Obituary
Franklin P. York, 78, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2023, surrounded
by his family, after a brief illness. He was born in Brighton, MA and grew up in Camden, ME.
After graduating Camden High School, he joined the Army as a radar repairman and was
stationed in Germany for most of his time served. Upon completion of his service, he worked
at Sylvania Electric in Windham, ME, where he met his wife of 54 years. They were married on
April 20th, 1968 and moved to Methuen where Franklin began working for IBM as a computer
technician. He retired from IBM as a Senior Field Engineer after 30 years of service.
Franklin was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He enjoyed working on various
projects around the house. He was very smart and could fix just about anything. He was a
wealth of knowledge and gave great advice to anyone who needed it. When Franklin wasn’t
spending his time at home, he was usually at his home away from home, Centerpoint
Community Church in Salem, NH. He worked there as a maintenance person for about 10 years
and continued to help with repairs and projects until recently. Franklin was a devout Christian
who lived his life as a faithful servant of the Lord, and spent much time in prayer each day for
all who had needs. He attended church services every Sunday and was very well loved by his
church community. He had a heart of gold and always put others before himself. It is safe to
say that the Lord has gained his right hand man.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Joanne E. (Woods) York of Methuen, his son Jeffrey
F. York and wife Suzanne (Hemman) York of Wakefield, MA, his daughter Jennifer S. (York)
Lannon and husband William A. Lannon, Jr. of Haverhill, MA, his sister Katherine McCobb York
Moran of Saco, ME and his sister Phyllis York of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his
grandchildren, Kaylee Lannon of Haverhill, MA and Lily and Tyler York of Wakefield, MA, as well
as nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 10am –
12pm at Centerpoint Community Church in Salem, NH, followed by a mercy meal
