Francis Richard Holmes' Obituary
Francis Richard Holmes, 75, passed away March 3rd at High Pointe Hospice, Haverhill surrounded by family and friends.
Born in North Andover, Ma October 9, 1949 to the late Francis (Franny) A. Holmes and Katherine Gallagher Holmes, he was educated at St Michael’s school North Andover, Austin Prep, Reading Ma and a Graduate of Merrimack College, N. Andover.
Richard is survived by two loving daughters Lisa Holmes Londonderry, NH and Ashley Holmes of South Carolina. Sisters Betsy Meunier Hinsdale, Ma and Rosemary Draper (John) Owls Head, Me. He leaves a much-loved grandson Alex Holmes of Londonderry NH and several beloved nephews. Richard was predeceased by sister Sue Ellen Holmes & brother Carey Holmes.
Richard enjoyed adventure, travel and a deep love of family. Spending time at the Topsfield Fair with his daughters every fall was a not to be missed event. In retirement Richard was part of a bowling league and a few pick-up games of darts.
Raised in North Andover, Richard moved to Methuen Ma then Salem NH following his retirement. He dedicated his career to everyone’s favorite family-owned Demoulas/Market Basket. Richard worked at various area locations including Chelsea, North Andover and Haverhill. He counted the Demoulas/ Market Basket owners and employees among his friends.
A devout Catholic, he attended St Patrick’s Church Lawrence, and St Joseph Salem NH. Fellow parishioners were included in the warmth of his wide circle of friends.
Tireless in his volunteering at various charities associated with St Patrick’s Church, Lawrence and St Joseph Salem NH a favorite charity was Lazarus House Ministries, Lawrence.

Family and friends may call Friday March 7, 2025 from 9-10 at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 35 Merrimac St North Andover, Ma. A funeral mass will be celebrated following the wake at 11:00 am St Joseph Church 40 Main St, Salem, NH 03079. Burial will take place at a later date.
