Ellen Marie Schruender's Obituary
Ellen M (Bolis) Schruender, 78, of North Andover, MA was reunited with her husband, George H. Schruender, Jr on his birthday, Sunday, September 4, 2022. Ellen passed under the wonderful care of the nurses at High Point Hospice in Haverhill MA. Ellen was born in Lawrence on July 22, 1944, to the late Alphonse Bolis and Mary (Dunn) Bolis.
Ellen graduated from Lawrence High School class of 1961. She went on to become an RN and graduated from Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She had an admirable career in Nursing, meeting many long-time friends along the way before retiring from the Emergency Room at The Lawrence General Hospital in 1983.
She was the devoted, loving wife of George H Schruender Jr, who passed away in 2016. Ellen was an amazing mother to her four children, her daughters Mary Ellen Haczynski and her husband Mark, Lee Ann Keegan her husband Sean, her son Ryan Schruender and his wife Mary (Gunderson), all of North Andover. She was predeceased by her son George H. "Chip" Schruender, III. She was a wonderful “Nana” Grandmother to Michael & William Haczynski, Aileen, Seamus, and Lochlann Keegan and Trent and Owen Schruender.
Ellen is survived by her brother, Joseph Bolis, her in-laws Mary (Mame) Meyer and her husband Dennis of Simpsonville, SC, Joan Fitzgibbons of North Andover, Jane Goodwin and her husband Walt of Sebastian, FL, and Humarock, MA, Edward Schruender and his wife Joanne and Michael Schruender and his wife Patricia all of North Andover. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins in the Schruender, Bolis and Molloy Families.
Ellen was a faithful parishioner of Saint Michael’s Parish in North Andover. She dedicated countless volunteer hours to many groups including but not limited to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cor Unum Meal Center, and the Saint Michael’s Prayer line.
Ellen’s happiest moments were spent in the presence of her seven grandchildren. Whether it was simply picking them up from school or treating them to breakfast and treats. She loved watching the kids at her pool and attending many of their activities. During the summer, she could often be found reading a book on the porch at the family condo overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. She was a friend to many and she dearly treasured the many conversation she had during gatherings with her friends, her High School friends, her Nursing friends and her Lake Winnipesaukee friends.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, Nurses aids and therapists that took great care of Ellen during this past summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael Church or St. Vincent DePaul Society, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA 01845, Lawrence High School Attn: Alumni Association, 70-71 North Parish Road Lawrence, MA 01843. Calling hours are Thursday September 8, 2022, from 4-8 PM, at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA 01845. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Michael Church , 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA 01845. Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:30 AM. Burial services will follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
