Ellen Claire Gallant, 96, died peacefully at Prescott House in North Andover, surrounded by the love of her family. Ellen was born in Lawrence, MA to James and Julia (Keating) Murphy. She grew up in Haverhill, graduating from St. Read Obituary
I was Ellen’s great granddaughter so to me she was Gigi. I have to say some of my best memories were it’s her, whenever I visited her apartment she would greet me and my sister with a cup of tea and danish cookies and my brother would go play checkers with my Pa. I miss her everyday and I’m honored to be named after this wonderful women.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I know that the family looked in on and care collectively for her and your dad and that she will be greatly missed. Sheila only have wonderful things to say about her and when I saw her picture I was stunned how much her daughters looked like her. I apologize for missing her funeral. Thinking of you as you make this journey.
Dear Ginny and Meg: We stand in the line of those who will truly miss your mother/grandmother. In the most kind and gentle sense, she was truly a character. Never at a loss for a come back to a quip and never at a loss for a kind word to those who needed it. I remember several years ago when she and the rest of your family met my father. Late on a Sunday afternoon we stood on the deck at Meg and AJ's house and I found my father in the corner with your mother. As I approached I realized they were covering subjects from the early to the mid century in the most minute detail. I was amazed that they seem to know the same people, politics, and restaurants. Admittedly, I am one who likes to partake of a good conversation, but in that moment on that afternoon I simply listened and realized how much I was learning. She was a fascinating person, kind to a fault witty and pleasant. She will truly be missed. Please except our condolences and our love. Leslie and Chuck McGowan

What a wonderful lady she was.Loved by her family & friends because of this.We traveled thru Ireland together with Sheila & my own mother ,sharing her books and songs & "dittis".She Will be missed.
