Ellen McKenna Benedict, of North Andover M.A, passed away peacefully alongside her family at the age of 87 on April 7th at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill MA after a long and well fought battle with Congestive Heart Fai Read Obituary
On behalf of the Lawrence History Center, I'd like to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of Ellen. She was a wonderful woman and we are deeply grateful for the time she spent volunteering at the Lawrence History Center. Thanks to her efforts in preserving Lawrence history in our archives, we are able to help researchers from all over the world. Ellen will be missed, but her legacy will live on in the work she did here at the Lawrence History Center.

I am just seeing this and realized that I worked alongside your Mom for many years at the Leonard School. She was kind and gentle and had the greatest sense of humor. I think of her often and share this story in the hopes of making you smile. She was teaching fifth grade. One morning prior to coming to school, she broke her tooth. One of her students noticed and said, "Mrs. Benedict, you lost your tooth." Immediately, she stopped teaching and responded, "Everyone stop, look around, I've lost my tooth and we need to find it!" All her students got up to search. I still smile when I think of her. I hope that you find comfort in your loving memories.

Gee provided me with so much unconditional love and happiness. We enjoyed each other's company, immensely. Whenever I would see her, even if I was having a bad day, she would turn it all completely around. She had such a bright light and kindness to her, that I've seen matched by so few other people.
