Elizabeth Wright's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" (Willett) Wright passed away peacefully on March 13 following a short illness.
Born in Lawrence on March 22, 1927, she was the daughter of Albert and Marion Willett. Betty was one of seven children, and the twin sister of the late William Willett. She was baptized at St. Mary the Assumption Parish.
Betty was the wife of the late Frank Wright, and together they had five children: Patricia, Frank, Beth, Tom and Marianne. She had strong faith, and was a member of St. Michael Parish in North Andover, which is also where she raised her family.
Betty was a bookkeeper at the A&P Market for a time, and while raising her family, assisted her husband Frank with managing Barrett's Sausage, the family business. Later in life, she worked in the Hospitality Shop at Lawrence General Hospital.
In addition to her five children and their spouses, Betty is survived by her sister Eileen LaFrance, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy and pride to her life. She was also close to her dear cousin, Ellen Wholley. Betty treasured visits with her family and especially loved holding and hugging her great-grandchildren during holidays and family parties.
Betty's sense of humor never waned, and her knowledge of game show rules was unparalleled. She was a voracious reader, a bingo aficionado, loved the beach and collected elephant figurines for luck (but only with their trunks pointing up!). She could tell stories about her kids and grandkids without missing details, and never forgot any of their birthdays. She was a truly special woman who is already dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, March 17, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 300 Hampshire Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, also in Lawrence. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made in Betty’s memory to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or visit their website@ [email protected].
