Elena Torres' Obituary
Elena (Nazario) Torres, age 70 of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2017, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Elena was born on October 13, 1946 in Puerto Rico to the late Hermejenes Nazario and Josefina Saez.
Elena was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family, going to church on Sundays, listening bolero music, and watching telenovelas. Elena stood under five feet tall but somehow her presence filled the room. For many years, she worked in Puerto Rico, New York and Massachusetts, before being diagnosed with a devastating mental illness.
Elena is survived by her devoted husband Mariano Torres Sr., daughter Celines Ramos and son in-law Julio C. Ramos, sons Mariano Torres Jr., and Ariel Torres, grandchildren Celines Delgado and Julian E. Ramos; and a number of relatives.
The family of the late Elena Torres wishes to extend their most sincere thanks, and appreciation to the staff at Tewksbury Hospital for the wonderful care they provided her for over a decade, their friendship, patience, and empathy. The family also wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Baker-Katz Nursing Home and Merrimack Valley Hospice for providing a comfort care and compassion on her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill Street, Lawrence, MA.
