Sorry..my English is worse. I met Captain Sheridan in the year 1960 in Germany. I have been in the house, what she descriped in her book. I was there to learn not as a orphan.She came every week to see us and gave us lessons in dancing.She was in the army in the town called Kaiserslautern. The orphanage was near by in a small town called Landstuhl. When I left the house in 1961 she gave me her book as a present. (in German) I still have the book and I`m appreciate it very much.I`m sad to read she died.I`m often think of the time in the house called Kinderheim St. Nikolaus

"Aunt" Edythe was a good friend of my mother Mildred Clark and acted as an affectionate aunt to Milly's children while we were growing up. She always had an upbeat view of life. Edythe served her country well in the military. In addition, she worked with orphans and with Catholic convent charities while stationed in Germany, and after she retired from the military she volunteered for many years with AMVETS. She earned a place in the hearts of many, and we will miss her.

I remember Aunt Edythe well also and the times we shared with her, my brothers and my mom (her sister Helen). Edythe taught me how drive in her VW convertible, she had the patience of a saint apparently. I remember when she was stationed in Germany my mom, my brothers and I would make things for Easter and Christmas and send them to her to distribute at the orphanage. I remember her writing her book, I believe "In this House" how she was a mentor to us, a loving sister and a great Aunt and a pillar of strength when it was needed especially at the time of our mother's passing. Aunt Edythe as I knew her was my mom's (Helen McMullen) sister. She and I shared the same birthday (although several years apart) and she was quite a person. I read how she is being remembered for her valiant service to our country and rightfully so, however what is missed is the love and affection she displayed to her nephews, nieces and above all my mom. I can't remember the number of times she would take the time to play cowboys and Indians with us when we were young. The trips to Fort Knox and other interesting adventures throughout New England and the patience she exhibited while explaining important historic points. She Even took me to John Wayne movies when no one else would. We use to laugh and make funny faces at her ill attempts to play the violin. Even then she maintained a great sense of humor by not letting on. Edythe was truly blessed and I know she is know playing the violin flawlessly and sharing laughs and memories with her sisters Phyllis and Helen.

Not only did I know Edythe Sheridan; I kndew John Breen. As Third Vice Commander of the Department of Massachusetts, I served with Edythe Sheridan at the Manchester VA Medical Center. She was careful to be most respectful of my office and most courteous. I cannot get over how sincerely humble and respectful she was of all wiwth whom she came into contact. I never got t know her as well as Al Temple, but I did get to grow a deep amount of respect from such a humble and truly impressive person. I regret that I did not know her more and work with her more. May God in heaven welcomeher into his Heavenly Apartments and bless her soul as I will eternally stand in awe, respect and love of one whom I will always remember with kindness.
