Helen, Samuel , Jordan and myself send our deepest sympathies to the entire McGovern family. Doctor McGovern was one of the nicest human beings I've ever had the pleasure to know. He did not deliver any of our children but he provided a home away from home to me for the five years that his son Richard and I attended Brooks School in North Andover. I visited him and his wife Edna on my periodic visits to New England over the next thirty odd years whenever possible. I was always received like family. I last saw the "Doc" in 2006 on one of my last visits home. He was as always energetic, engaging, a graceful host and sharp as a tack. His vision was failing at that point but his love of history, literature, current events and anything Irish was undiminished. He was a remarkable man. As far as I'm concerned, one of the last renaissance men left on earth. I will miss this kind soul as long as I draw breath. Au devoir Doctor McGovern. Fare thee well.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the entire McGovern family. Dr. McGovern was an amazing man, with a kind soul. It is thanks to him that I have my oldest two children and that I was able to continue having children. There are no words to express the impact he made on my life and that of my family. I am thankful that he was blessed with a full life and a loving family. He deserved all the happiness in the world.
Rest in peace,Dr.McGovern.Working with you for 14 years at Holy Family Hospital in labor and delivery was a rewarding and enriching experience, that I will never forget. My deepest condolences to your beloved wife,Edna and all your children and their families. The world has lost a gentleman and a scholar.Murl RNC.
My deepest sympathies to Dr. McGovern's family. He delivered all three of my children and saw me through high risk pregnancies and even though I was scared each time, it was his soft and reassuring words that kept me calm and saw me through. He was and will always be one of the most respected and loved doctor in the Merrimack Valley! God bless you and may you Rest In Peace Dr. McGovern.
My sincere condolences to the McGovern family. I worked with Dr.McGovern at the Holy Family Hospital Breast Care Center. He came in every Tuesday to care for hundreds of underserved, un-insured women. He was the most sincere, kind, giving person. He was always smiling! I for one am a better person for having the opportunity to know and work with him. Rest in peace Dr. McGovern.
To Dr. McGovern's family, I offer my condolences. He sure lived a beautiful, productive, kind & loving life. He will be remembered dearly by so many for his kindness. He delivered my last 2 babies who had problems but I received such good prenatal care by Dr. McGovern & Drs. In Boston. In 1967, when I was in labor with my 4th child, having been induced a few weeks early, nurses were busy in other delivery rooms. Dr. McGovern sat by my bed and timed my labor pains until a nurse was available. He was so warm, caring & such a wonderful doctor & a beautiful person. He will always be remembered by many. God bless him & may he rest in peace.
Loved him.... the "greatest" ! Delivered three of my children; the second was born on January 1,1963 and was the First baby born in Lawrence that year at Lawrence General Hospital. Heaven has added another angel. God bless.
