Dorothy M. Halloran's Obituary
Dorothy M. (Hanley) Halloran, age 85, passed away June 30, 2019 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Lawrence, MA on July 8, 1933 to John and Julia Hanley. She was the wife of William J Halloran of North Andover.
Dorothy graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and went on to earn her Masters of Science in Nursing from Boston University.
She spent her early career working as a nurse at Lawrence General Hospital, Bon Secours Hospital, and the Boston City Hospital. She later helped others reach their dreams of becoming a nurse as an educator at Northern Essex College School of Nursing and at The Baptist School of Nursing in Boston. When she wasn’t in the hospital caring for others, you could find her volunteering at the Lazarus House in Lawrence MA. When not working, she enjoyed spending time with her family at her favorite places, including the beach in Salisbury MA, York ME, and Florida.
In addition to her husband Bill of 58 years, she is survived by her daughter Traci (Halloran) Mambro and her husband John of Merrimac, MA as well as her son William Halloran and his wife Matilda of Amesbury, MA. She is also survived by her three grandchildren whom she kept very close to her heart, Patrick, Freddie and Michaela Halloran.
She was predeceased by her sister Catherine “Bunny” Kilcoyne, and survived by her other sister Mary Keleher, both of North Andover, MA and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caring people at Ashland Farm, Prescott House and Compassus Hospice for all their support and kindness.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in St Michael’s Church at 196 Main Street in North Andover, MA. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Amesbury, MA.
