Dorothy D. Elwood's Obituary
Dorothy D. Elwood a life long Lawrence resident passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 30th, after succumbing to a long illness.
Born on May 3, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Sadie (Kulesa) Murphy. Dorothy graduated from Saint Mary's Grammar and High School. She was a bookkeeper for William Barry Co. for over 30 years.
In the summer she enjoyed gardening both plants and vegetables. In the winter she liked to shovel snow. She also liked word search puzzles, but most of all she loved her big bowl of popcorn.
Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Montalto and Joan Pappadeas, her brother Joseph Murphy and nephew John Montalto.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Patricia Elwood of Lawrence and nephew Bill Montalto of San Diego, CA., and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 7th, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Her funeral service will be celebrated immediately following the wake at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Her burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
