Donald "Donny" P. Welch's Obituary
Donald "Donny" Patrick Welch, 51, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Lawrence General Hospital. He had just had gastric by-pass surgery on May 24th and was recovering at home. Donny was born May 2, 1962 in Council Bluffs Iowa to Robert and Fay (Cross) Welch. He grew up in Council Bluffs and moved to Methuen in June of 1997 when he met his future wife, Lorraine. Donny was a graduate of TJ High School in Council Bluffs and also received a certificate in IT from Clark University. He was employed with Comcast Business Class as a Customer Service Representative. Donny was an avid sports fan of his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes as well as all the Boston Teams, especially the Red Sox. He enjoyed genealogy, fantasy football, music, antique shopping, and anything sports. Donny had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. Donny was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Steve and Jimmy Welch. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Lorraine. He was a dedicated and loving step-father to Andrew M. Burbine, Lorraine's son. Other members of Donny's family include: brothers: Chris and his wife Tammy Welch, Jeff and his wife Helen Welch, sisters: Karen and her husband Mark Schnackenberg, and Theresa and her husband Mark Beauchamp, nephews: Shawn Welch, and Adam and his wife Brandy Beauchamp, a niece: Sara and her husband Nick Boatright, and a great-niece: Chloe Fay Boatright all of Iowa. Donny is also survived by his mother-in-law: Maureen Maher and her husband Vic of Wilmington, MA, father-in-law: Bob Brown and his wife Debbie of Wakefield, MA, step-father-in-law: Charlie Anderson of Reading, MA, a brother-in-law: Chuck Anderson and his partner Bill of Woburn, MA, a sister-in-law: Jillene Anderson-Baldwin and her husband Larry of Fitchburg, MA, brother-in-law: Doug Brown of Wakefield, MA, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. Donny was also special to Dave and Maureen Murphy of Methuen. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial visitation in celebration of Donny's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
