Dolores Mary (Powers) Hewett's Obituary
Salem, NH – Surrounded by loving family, Dolores Mary (Powers) Hewett, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday December 22, 2025. Dolores was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on December 16, 1929 to the late Frederick S and Sarah C (North) Powers. She graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1947. She worked at the Lawrence Wholesale Drug Company in Lawrence, Massachusetts until her marriage to the love of her life, Richard J Hewett, in 1950. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising seven children with her husband. She worked briefly at Western Electric and at Gillette Companies. Her main focus was on her family and friends. She put everyone’s wants and needs above her own and was adored and cherished by many. She loved crafting and knitting, giving away her creations to St Augustine’s on Tower Hill’s Christmas fairs, or to family. She was especially proficient making beautiful baby outfits. She loved going to Casinos, ever hopeful that she would hit a jackpot! Her favorite gift was scratch tickets. Her favorite role in life was being Nana to her twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren, She will be greatly missed by her children: Maureen and her husband Patrick Judge of Atkinson, NH, Fred and his wife Velvet Hewett of San Francisco, CA, Sally and her husband Don O’Neill of Atkinson, NH, Richard Hewett of Newton, MA, Stephen and his wife Angela Hewett of Salem, NH, Kerrie and her husband Bill Ganley of San Diego, CA, and Heather and her husband Bill Rastello of Salem, NH. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren: Shaun and his wife Amy Judge, Erin Judge, Timothy Judge, Meaghan and her husband James, Sarah, Ian and Jillian Hewett, Jack and Michael O’Neill, Branden and his wife Chrissie Stanton, Brian and Renae Hewett, Molly, Jack, Mairead and Brighid Ganley, Brianna Rastello and her wife Alexandra Aldrich, Brandon, Madison and Ava Rastello, Jacob and his wife Caitlyn Judge, Ryan, and Matthew Judge , Jackson and Maryss Judge. She is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 42 years Richard (Dick) Hewett, her siblings and their spouses: Claire Scanlon, Miriam Dolan, Justine Murphy, Helen Morris and Fred Powers.
Calling hours are at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury St. Lawrence, MA 01841 on Monday December 29, 2025 from 5pm – 8pm. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Augustine’s Church, 128 Ames St. Lawrence, MA on Tuesday December 30, 2025 at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
