Daysi Matos' Obituary
LAWRENCE- Daysi Matos of Lawrence passed away on Oct.1,2024 at home surrounded by her family. She would have turned 89 on Oct.17.
Daysi was born in Neyba, Dominican Republic. She worked as a teacher in her native country.
Daysi immigrated to the United State in 1969 first settling in New York City. She moved to Lawrence in the mid-1970s.
Daysi worked in the shoe industry at Oompies and Lawrence Maid and later at Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent from which she retired.
Daysi was the widow of Jose Blanco and is survived by her daughter Wanda Blanco of Lawrence, who was her caretaker; sons Jose Blanco of Florida and Manuel Blanco of Lawrence; sister Elpidia Matos of Lawrence and brother Feliciano Matos of New York; nieces and nephews Yadira Betances Muldoon whom she raised as her daughter; Ivelisse Hernandez, Oscar Hernandez, Eva Luisa Botex, Sandy Romero and Sammy Matos, and many others; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was sister of the late Luis Matos and Hipólita Matos.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to call on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA 01841. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
