David D. Fleming Jr.'s Obituary
Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend, David D. Fleming Jr., 60, formerly of Lawrence and Tewksbury, MA, and most recently of Salem, NH, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2025.
Born and raised in Lawrence, David graduated from Lawrence High School in 1983, where he was a dedicated football player. He continued his education at North Shore Community College, working toward a degree in Fire Science. David remained in his hometown and dedicated 27 years to the Lawrence Fire Department, spending the last 10 years of his career as Captain of Engine 6. There, he built lifelong friendships and took great pride in his job. After retiring in 2021, he spent his summers at Salisbury Beach, making countless cherished memories with family and friends.
David was a man of unwavering loyalty, kindness, and generosity—always there to lend a hand or share a laugh. He deeply missed his late parents, David D. Fleming Sr. and Marie (McCarthy) Fleming, and found comfort in their memory.
David cherished and took great pride in his family. He was a loving father to three daughters, Nicole Fleming of Northglenn Colorado, Amanda Flynn and her husband, Jake of Merrimack, NH; and Sandra Arnold and her husband, Joseph of Methuen, MA. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his seven beloved grandchildren—Jace, Emilia, Saylor, Charlie, Colton, Russell, and Elliott.
David also leaves behind his beloved siblings:Sisters Patricia Fleming and Kathleen Clemente and her husband Edy, Brothers Michael Fleming and Daniel Fleming and his wife Tricia, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
David’s spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him. He will be reunited in heaven with his parents and many others, watching over his family with a warm smile—perhaps even enjoying a good game of 45’s.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA, on Wednesday from 4 PM – 8 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Saint Patrick’s Church in Lawrence.
David’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
