I only met Dan briefly once, when he checking out of the resort. And during those brief few minutes we had an enjoyable and uplifting conversation about institutions in Lawrence. Like McKallagat’s Drug Store, the “busy” Breen Funeral home “Annex,” Bishops’s restaurant, etc. I enjoyed learning that he was neighbors with my cousin “Buddy“ Thomas and Evie Burke in Salisbury

I had the honor of worked with Dan for over thirty years at Lighthouse Cove Resort. Dan always had my back. We solved any problem that came our way and always enjoyed our successes with a cold beer together. Dan was especially happy to see me after he survived Hurricane Wilma when I showed up with hurricane supplies and a cooler full of ice and cold beer. I will miss my friend and mentor. Dan made Lighthouse Cove a better place! Rest in peace my friend.
I met Dan nearly 8 years ago at our local bar in Deerfield beach. I didn't realize it back then that a man 40 plus years older than me could happen to become one of my closest friends, but that's what happened. We've got a good group of regulars at Taxi, but every day I looked forward most to spending an hour or two talking with Dan. He was a man's man. He was wise, caring, funny, personable, had great stories, and enjoyed busting chops, and could take it in return. Nothing made him happier than to talk about his kids and all his grandchildren. And also Tom Brady. Inside joke. He was supportive of me in things going on in my life and I could always turn to him for advice. My sister in law was diagnosed with cancer last year, and I had told Dan about it. He would often ask how she was doing with her treatment with true concern. That was even the first thing he asked me when he came back from Boston last fall. Thankfully she was able fight through and is now cancer free. She is participating in a walk for cancer next weekend and is raising money for cancer research. I have donated to her fund in Dan's honor. I love you Dan, and really going to miss you pal!
There’s too many to mention being on the beach together watching the Pats game together in Salisbury having them join our fire pits for a little bit all the parties all the Sommers and walking past my grandparents house and me yelling out the window to him and that’s just talking from the street and window. I miss him so much fly high pal.❤️🩹😇💔
