Claire Florence (Morel) Valcourt's Obituary
Salem, New Hampshire: Grammy is in Heaven. Claire Florence (Morel) Valcourt, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Salemhaven Nursing Home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on January 10, 1928 during a snow storm. She was the 11th of 13 children of Alcide and Florence Morel, all of whom predeceased her. Claire attended St Anne's elementary school and graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Internal Revenue Service. Claire retired from the IRS in 1994 at age 66.
Claire was a wonderful mother to her four loving daughters. She is survived by daughters Catherine Valcourt of Lewiston Maine; Linda (Valcourt) Simmons and her husband Don, and Pamela (Valcourt) Marchand and her loving companion Buddy Boucher, of Salem NH. She was predeceased by her daughter Ruth Ann (Valcourt) Ginchereau in 1997and Ruth's late husband, Richard Ginchereau. She also leaves a huge, loving family that includes five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, seven step great-grand children as well as their spouses and families.
Claire resided at Salemhaven Nursing Home for the last four 1/2 years where she was loved by all. She filled her days with activities, family visits, volunteered for Chapel service, served on the Resident Council, did arts and crafts and enjoyed so many visiting entertainers. Claire always looked forward to our countless, multi-generational family gatherings, especially Christmas mornings.
Claire, our family matriarch, will be remembered for many things but mostly for her absolutely wonderful outlook on life and her positive attitude about everything. She never failed to find the best in every person and situation.
Funeral arrangements are provided by the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation hours at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd, Salem NH will be on Thursday August 20, 2020 from 10 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass to follow at 11 am. Masks required. Burial following the Mass at Elmwood Cemetery 130 North Lowell Rd Methuen, Massachusetts.
