Charles J. "Chuck" "Grumpy" LaPlante's Obituary
Charles J. "Chuck" "Grumpy" LaPlante, 73, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 20, 1945, in Lawrence, son of the late Francis J. and Genevieve (Rogoz) LaPlante. Chuck was educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He served for the United States Airforce during the Vietnam War, and was a parishioner of Saint Patrick's Church in Lawrence, Mass.
He worked as a CAD Engineer for Agfa Compugraphic and ITT. Chuck was a photographer for various friends and family weddings, he enjoyed taking pictures. He was a member of the Lawrence Elks, the Lawrence Rod and Gun Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Chuck was an avid bowler and was on a team for several years. He enjoyed spirits and gatherings with friends at the Claddagh Pub in Lawrence. Chuck was an avid N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Yankees Fan, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His family members include his wife Shelia (Searle) LaPlante of Lawrence, Mass.; his children, Michael C. LaPlante of Manchester, N.H., Sarah-Ann (LaPlante) Anderson and her husband Brendan of Lawrence, Mass., and James Patrick LaPlante of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren to Grumpy, Jonathan Anderson, Brooke Anderson, and Matthew Anderson; his brother Joseph LaPlante of Atkinson, N.H.; his sister Frances Sosnowski and her husband William of Grosse Pointe, Mich.;
as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11 a.m., in Saint Patrick's Church in Lawrence, and his burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Lawrence, Mass.
