I was deeply saddened to hear about Kay's passing. I had grown up living just across the street from her in Lawrence. Her warmth and personality were amazing - she was the type of neighbor that you really enjoyed talking to.
She was incredibly kind and caring to us as children growing up, and I know that on more that one occasion my brother, sister and I had put her nursing knowledge and experience to the test. "Go see Kay" was a common phase in our household when anything above a common cold, bump or bruise ailed us - she was always there ready to help.
I am incredibly thankful that I had the chance to know her and have her be a part of my life.
