Our deepest sympathy to all at the loss of Uncle Roland. Wish we could be there. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. With all our love, Dennis and Christine
I had the privlege of teaching with Bro. Joseph Emilian for several years in the 1950s at Cardinal Hayes H.S., Bronx, NY. I also spent 2 yrs. with him in the Scholasticate in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1946-48. Bro.Joe was an exemplary Marist Brother in every sense of the word. He worked diligently to teach his subjects, prayed and lived the Marist life and set an example for all who knew him. Art Devlin (formerly Bro. Francis Jerome, FMS) I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, to all the present and former Marist Brothers, especially those who knew him well. Bro. Joe will be sorely missed by all. I am glad I had the pleasure of visiting with Bro. Joe at Marist College a few years ago. Bro. Joe graciously showed my wife and nephew around the grounds and buildings, and brought back many fond memories of my days as a Marist Brother. I know he will look down and bless us from his throne among the "monks." Art Devlin (formerly Bro. Francis Jerome,FMS.
As a former Marist Brother I have known Joe Bel for over 54 years; he taught me when I was in college, and he remained an enthusiatic teacher, a good friend and he epitomized a Marist Brother. I offer his family my condolences and my prayers for Joe. Patrick Gallagher
I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of Brother Joseph. I was a student of his at Marist College from '69 to '73 and was fortunate to be a part of his Marist Abroad Program in Paris where I spent my Junior year. I was very hesitant about being away from my family and friends for so long (I was a commuter student) but Brother Joseph had no qualms about me going and that year turned out to be one of the best years of my life. I will always be grateful to him for that. He will be missed.
To Ray, Ernest, Rita, Irene, and Emile, my deepest sympathy on the loss of yet another sibling. Roland was a special person and I am sure the Lord is pleased with him and his life of faith, but he will be missed dearly. Love to all, your cousin Carole
