Bessie (Pappas) Kenney's Obituary
Bessie (Pappas) Kenney, 89, a longtime resident of Methuen and for the past year a resident of Atria Marland Place in Andover, passed away on Monday, November 30 at Lawrence General Hospital due to complications of Covid-19. Bessie was born on August 8, 1931 in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late Aristides and Katherine (Poulios) Pappas. She was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1949. She later graduated from the MacIntosh Business School of Lawrence. Bessie was employed by Radio Foods for many years and First Essex Savings Bank until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Saints Constantine and Helen Church in Andover, MA.
Bessie loved listening to music, especially Elvis and Vince Gill, watching a good movie or sporting event, and spending time with her family. She had the kindest and most sincere heart of anyone you would ever meet. Bessie would welcome you into her home with open arms, a huge smile, and of course a special treat. The memories she left on those around her are invaluable and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
Bessie is survived by her daughter Christina DiBitetto and her husband John of Bradford, her son Bill Kenney of Lawrence, grandchildren Nicole Lowe and her husband Corey, Johnny DiBitetto and his wife Rachel, Matthew and Rachel Kenney and great-grandchildren Everly and Theo Lowe as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bessie was predeceased by her husband William Kenney with whom she shared 48 years of marriage, brothers John, Thomas, Harry, William and George Pappas, and sister Angela Schug.
