Bernard F. McDonald's Obituary
June 20,1939-February 3, 2020
Bernard F. McDonald, 80, “Uncle Bernie”, to everyone who knew him,
passed away on February 3rd after a long illness. He was preceded by his
parents Jim and Stella McDonald of East Boston where he lived most of his
life.
After graduating East Boston High school, he served his country for eight years in the US Army Reserves Company H 3rd Training Regimen FT Dix, New
Jersey. From there he was employed in the South Boston Court House as part
of the probation office until his retirement. About ten years ago he moved to Lawrence to be closer to his family. Uncle Bernie loved to play poker and watch movies. He was a veracious reader often completing ten books a month.
An avid sports fan, he promised to enjoy one more Super Bowl before passing, which he managed to accomplish.
Uncle Bernie would boast that he could repair almost anything from cars to
clothing with a roll of duct tape. It wasn’t unusual to see his car fender or pants pocket proudly repaired that way much to the chagrin of his family.
He is survived by his three sons, Staff Sergeant Sean McDonald, currently
serving in the US Military Army National Guard in South Carolina, Todd (and his wife Christine) of Sandown, N.H., and Dennis of Bangor Me. He is further survived by his sister, Celeste DiFruscia of North Andover, whom together with Todd were his caretakers, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephew.

and High Point Hospice House in Haverhill for their care, compassion and
