Belgica M. Rodriguez, 91, a longtime resident of Lawrence, MA., passed away at home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Belgica was educated in Ecuador and came to Lawrence some 36 years ago. Belgica was an avid knitter and an excellent cook. She will best be remembered for the wonderful care that she gave to her family. The widow of Juan F. Barahona, members of Belgica's family include: a daughter: Jeanette Arce with whom she made her residence. sons: Whimper and Juan Barahona of Ecuador grandchildren: Pedro Arce and his wife Sandra DeVita, Hector Arce and his wife Gladys Cruz, David Arce and his wife Johanna Rodriguez, and Whimper Barahona and his wife Martha Ferruzola. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 1 cousin: Dido Zambrano. At the request of the family, services will be private and held at their convenience. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption School, 301 Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA., 01841.
