Barbara Louise Bistany's Obituary
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing Barbara Louise Bistany, age 71, lifelong resident of Lawrence, MA, who passed away unexpectedly on December 30,2021 at the Lawrence General Hospital after a long illness.
She was born on September 4,1950 in Lawrence, to the late Samuel and Louise (Kattar) Bistany. She is survived by her brothers Michael Bistany and his wife Linda of Bradford, NH, Charles and his wife Sharleen of Lawrence, and her sister Louise Ann Bistany, also of Lawrence. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Michael Bistany of Weare, NH, Joseph Bistany of NH, Eric Bistany and his wife Glenny of Merrimack, MA, Christian Bistany and his partner Amanda of Lawrence, and Nicole Bistany of Lawrence, along with many great nieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from Lawrence High School in 1968 and Bryant Macintosh Junior College in 1970. After graduation, she worked two years at Boston Naval Shipyard and forty-four years as an Administrative Officer for the US Department of State Diplomatic Security, during which time she made many friends throughout the world.
She was a loving daughter and sister. She and her sister were great friends. She lived a full and vibrant life, with more close family connections and friends than you could count.
She often travelled with groups of friends on many adventures such as shopping, events, and most especially, to beaches and restaurants. She was a life-long beach person, spending many summers at Salisbury Beach. In her younger days, she and her gang travelled around the world including places like Italy and the Vatican, Morocco, the Canary Islands, London, and Iceland.
She regularly attended St. Anthony’s Maronite Church in Lawrence and was an active member of Ladies Sodality of St. Anthony’s. She was vice president for many years, helping to organize and host numerous fundraisers and events.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St. Lawrence, MA 01841 on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass will be at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen.
