I am so grateful to have been part of the same extended family as Armand Hyatt. He was a beacon of thoughtfulness and kindness and poetry and song and devotion to community. From talking to Armand about nonprofit work and community building to creative writing to shooting hoops, he was a person I have been delighted to know and share moments with.
Armand shared some of his poetry with me years ago, and a part of one read:
“I see the vibrant Sea
and know the whole
that vibrancy is all a-flow
in sands and all lands
—and in my hands—
and deeply within my soul.”
He so admirably and fiercely cared for this world, its places and people and plants and animals in it. The love he felt flowing through himself and the world around him is here to stay. What a legacy. Love you Armand.
In love and memory,
Judee Burr, daughter of Armand’s cousin Jeanie
