Arthur Mittler, 82, of Methuen, MA passed away very unexpectedly, January 15, 2026. He was the son of the late Jean and Jack Mittler. “Art” was born and raised in New Jersey. A graduate of Drew University, he went on to complete Read Obituary

Arthur and my brother Richard were best friends from 7th grade and he was at our house a lot. He was like having another brother. I am sincerely sorry to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to Marsha and his family. May he rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dear Marcia, Though I did not know Arthur, I know you were very happy together. I was happy to work with you in Bedford and happy that you introduced me and my family to Brother Guy when we traveled to Rome back in the day.

I remember meeting Art as a junior faculty 10 years ago on the then honors college, after that Art and I got to know each other through the faculty senate and then on the Msp Board. Art had a great sense of duty and working toward the greater good. Always had a funny quote to break the ice and make long meetings more fun. We will miss you dearly. This is such a loss for all of us and UML!

From the first time I met “Mr Mittler” (probably’87?), he made me feel welcome, valued, and part of the family. He became a friend and even mentor at times, sharing advice and humor about chairing a department. I didn’t see him enough, that’s for sure, but I will cherish the memories of when I did.
