Adele B. (Bashara) Saba's Obituary
Adele (Bashara) Saba, 89, of Methuen passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Holy Family Hospital. As she lived her entire life, she was surrounded by her large, loving family throughout her illness. Adele looked forward to once again, joining her beloved husband (the late) Mitry Saba.
Adele was born and raised on Elm street in Lawrence, a predominately Lebanese community with whom she stayed closely connected throughout her remarkable life. Adele and Mit, more commonly known as Sittoo and Jiddoo did it right. As loving and supportive parents, they taught us the importance of family love and values. As a result, every event was a reason for celebration.
Adele often spoke of her loving childhood, the loss of her father Solomon at an early age and working at the Lawrence mills to help her mother, Saada. Later, her family opened Bishop’s Restaurant where she worked throughout the years while raising her five children.
Throughout her life, Sittoo brought spirit, excitement and animation to everything that she did and she taught her children and grandchildren to do the same. Any event was a reason for a major family get-together, after all, her entire family, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces were the pride of her life. To an extended number of others who knew her as the loving grandmother she was, she was known as Sittoo.
Adele was pre-deceased by her husband, Mitry and siblings, Victoria (Vickie) Bashara, Charles D (Bishy) Bashara, Emily Hatem and Louise Kattar. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Carter of Methuen, with whom she lived, son-in-law Jack Carter of Methuen, sons Charles and Robyn of Salem, NH, Steven and Catherine of Methuen, Glenn and Christine of Atkinson, NH and John and Maureen of Methuen, brothers Joey Bashara and his long-time companion Madeline Silvera and Abe Bashara of Methuen, 19 Grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
