Marilyn R. (Hardy) Briggs, 80, a longtime resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA surrounded by her family. Born in Lawrence, Marilyn was educated in the Lawrence School System and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Marilyn was the Proprietor of the Sportsmen’s Café in Lawrence for 18 years until she retired to Florida. Marilyn loved going to Webster Lake in New Hampshire with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The widow of George P. Briggs, family members include her children: George M. Briggs and his wife Nina of Chelmsford, MA as well as Nina’s sister Donna Wormald, Dorothy St. Amand and her husband Ronald of Salem, NH, Cheryl Briggs and her longtime partner Serge Dupuis of Methuen, MA as well as Allen Briggs and his wife Roberta of Methuen, MA. Marilyn is also survived by a sister Claire Petuto of North Carolina, grandchildren: Caitlin Hannagan, Gregory Follette, Alyssa St. Amand and Kimberly Briggs, and great grandchildren: Ava Hannagan and Emma and Brody Dunn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a later date.
