Larry Joseph Kalil

August 23, 1948 - May 13, 2022

Larry Joseph Kalil of Wells, Maine, formerly of Salem NH, passed into eternal life on May 13, 2022 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 23, 1948, in Methuen, MA. to Abraham and Betty Kalil. Larry leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda (Bourdelais) Kalil of Wells, Maine, his son Jeffrey Kalil and wife Steffi who both reside in Munich, Germany, his son Christopher Kalil of Kennebunk, Maine and his significant Carolyn Armes and her son William Armes, of North Andover, MA. He was blessed with 5 loving grandchildren who will greatly miss their “Jeddoh”, Marlo and Heide Kalil, and Adelaide, Annabelle, and Amelia Kalil. Larry is also survived by his brother Joseph Kalil of Derry, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerald Kalil and William Kalil, and sister Tonya Kalil Roy Casey. Larry loved his family with all his heart and was very proud of them. Over the years he devoted himself to becoming a respected expert in the automobile business. He was a man of integrity, and a man who loved the Lord. He strived his best to do what was right in the eyes of God. His family is very grateful and blessed for his unending sacrifices. He will be dearly missed. The automobile business was a significant part of Larry’s life. As a teen and after graduation, Larry worked with his father at Abe Kalil & Sons Auto Sales in Lawrence, MA. He learned the auto business from the “bottom up” at Haverhill Trade School and Lawrence Vocational School majoring in auto mechanics. At his father’s business, he refined his sales, financial, and interpersonal skills that would carry him through many successful years. He continued to work for some of the best and most successful auto dealerships over the next 40 years of his life. He excelled in sales and management and was recognized and respected by many in the field. In 2002, at the age of 64, Larry retired as manager from New England Auto Auction in Derry NH and went into business for himself. That gave him the ability to enjoy life, spend more time with his family, and play the game he loved the most - golf. Over the years, Larry was blessed with many cherished friends, both on and off the course. When Larry wasn’t working, you could find him at the golf course. Golf was his “first love” and his treasured “vacation time”. Brought up in a golfing family, he learned the game young. Always an excellent golfer and a great competitor, he took the game seriously, as well as proudly, to earn many golf awards, including several “hole in ones”. Larry’s first of many golf recognitions, was attaining the title of “Club Champion” at the Merrimack Golf Club in August of 1968. That same month he left to serve in the US Army reserves for 6 years where he was stationed as a Physical Therapist Aide for 3 months in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas as a Physical Therapist Aide. The family extends their sincere thankfulness to Christina Hunt of the York Hospital Home Care, for her compassion and kindness to Larry, and to the exceptional care team at Dana Farber Cancer Center, in Methuen MA.
