Dorothy A. (Melvin) Honohan

September 11, 1931 - January 30, 2020

Dorothy A. (Melvin) Honohan, 88, of Salem, New Hampshire formerly of Lawrence, Massachusetts passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born, September 11, 1931 in Lawrence, Mass. Daughter of the late James and Mary (Casey) Melvin. Dotty was educated and was at Saint Patrick School in Lawrence, Mass. She worked as a Benefits Director at AT&T Technologies, in North Andover, Mass. Dotty was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Saint Augustine's on Tower Hill in Lawrence, Mass. Dotty was a volunteer for the Holy Family Hospital every Tuesday at the front Desk, she made Dolls for Dolls for AIDS and Sick Children, She also helped teach sewing and knitting with the area seniors. And for several years she ironed the church linens at Saint Augustine's Chapel on Tower Hill in Lawrence, Mass. Her family members include Her beloved husband of 63 years William J. Honohan Her children: Maureen and Lance Tortolano, Susan and Greg Phelan, Margaret and Dan Kowal, Tim and Kim Honohan, Judy Honohan, Eileen Honohan and William Honohan and her faithful Shittsu Tobey. Her Grandchildren: Lance and Gabrielarose Tortolano, Nicholas and wife Amy Phelan, Casey M. Kowal, Macenzie Phelan and husband Cam Palczynski Brother: William Melvin Her close cousins Mary Rita Henricks, Peggy Boardman and Alana Casey. Deceased brothers: James, John and Francis Melvin. deceased brothers-in-law Francis Mosson and Joseph Hanley deceased sisters Mary Hanley and Claire Mosson As well as several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the ICU and R4 at Lawrence General Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to our mother and wife. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, February 13th, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.breenfuneralhome.com. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 14th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Saint Augustine's Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, Mass. Burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Lawrence, MA. Memorial Contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to Salem, NH Rescue Leave, 4 Sarl Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
