Andrew Charles Geracoulis

Andrew Charles Geracoulis, 23, was received by our Lord and Savior on January 7th, 2023 after a long and brave battle with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a congenital heart defect. Andrew was born to Steven and Cynthia (Knettles) Geracoulis. He grew up in Virginia, and he spent time in Massachusetts and California with his extended family. Dedicated to the Orthodox faith, Andrew enjoyed attending church services and was enamored with learning about the lives of the saints. He found a second home in St. Herman’s Russian Orthodox Church where he had many close friends. Andrew was known for his gentleness and amazing sense of humor. Truly, he had no guile. One of the highlights of his youth was meeting Teddy Bruschi through the Make a Wish Foundation. Andrew loved watching NFL Football and all things sports with his Dad and grandfather. Andrew himself was a gifted athlete. He played soccer for nearly ten years, as well as baseball, basketball, flag football, swimming, and golf! Any sport that his cardiologist cleared him to play, he was on the field! He and his Mom shared a love for animals, religion, philosophy and music, and talked for hours everyday about anything and everything. Andrew enjoyed living with his sister, Anna, who cared deeply for her brother and plans to one day publish his unfinished musical works. Andrew looked forward to working with his Dad in the family business of log home restoration. His long term goal was to get trained and work as an estimator. Faith and family meant everything to Andrew. He was a steadfast caretaker and wonderful companion to his ailing maternal grandparents who suffered from dementia. Last summer, he spent time with his paternal grandparents in Massachusetts whose colorful mannerisms always entertained Andrew. The most important thing in life to Andrew was his family, and he spent every moment he could visiting or talking to his grandparents, as well as his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Despite Andrew’s health struggles, he was a light to all. He had a vast network of friends who will miss him dearly, and supported him greatly in life with their love. Most importantly, the dedication and unconditional affection and support from Andrew’s mom, Cynthia, and father, Steven, will forever be a testament to a deep, eternal, and otherworldly love for their son. Andrew is survived by his parents, Steven and Cynthia Geracoulis, his sister, Anna Geracoulis, his paternal grandparents, Steven and Marina Geracoulis, his uncles, aunts, and cousins: Ed and Tina Zack, and their daughters, Katie Baese, and Nicole Zack, Timothy and Mischa Geracoulis, Roberto and Alexandra Gonzalez, and their children, Olivia, Esteban, and Salome Gonzalez, and Bill and Maria Craig, and their children, Giana and Sofia Craig, Steve Knettles, and his son, Zack Knettles and daughter, Haile Lampe, and John Knettles and his daughter, Rory Knettles. Andrew is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Carol Knettles. A public wake will be held on Thursday, January 12th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and the funeral will take place on Friday, January 13th at Noon. Both will be held at St. Xenia Orthodox Church located at 170 North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA.
